Schneider, William C. "Bill" Beloved Husband, Father And Gramps. Bill was born July 14, 1921 in So. St. Paul to Clarence and Marie Schneider. He attended John Ericsson Grade School, Grant Grade School, Cleveland Jr. High, Johnson High School (class of 1939), and Mills College of Art & Advertising. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps, October 1, 1942. Joined the 327th Air Force Band late 1942, as drummer and entertainer, with extensive tours of Guam, Tinian, Saipan, Iwo Jima, and Japan. He began working for the St. Paul Dispatch and Pioneer Press in 1948, and retired as promotions director in 1984. His early duties included: Production Manager, St. Paul Women's Institute, Production Manager, Municipal Christmas Choral Pageant, Complete planning and operation of the Hospitality Headquarters Minnesota State Fair, Organized Winter Carnival units, events, wrote the Winter Carnival clues and hid the medallion for several years, was on the planning committee of new production plant, and the General Chairman of St. Paul Pop Concerts. His business associations included: International Newspaper Promotion Assn., President of Central States (1980), Board member of the Ramsey County Cancer Society, Life member and board member of the Twin Cities Musicians Union, Initial member Ordway Theatre Committee, Planning Committee for St. Paul Civic Center, Member St. Paul Athletic Club. Bill is preceded in death by parents, Clarence & Marie. He is survived by his loving wife of 60+ years, Norma; sons, Mark (Elsie) Strachota, Chuck (Irene) Schneider; grandchildren, Kimberly Filius, Jeffrey Schneider; great-granddaughter, Amanda Strachota; brother-in-law, Raymond (Rose) Tarte; and many wonderful friends.
